Tony Award winning composer/performer Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County, Parade), MacArthur Genius Bill Irwin (Old Hats, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), and Recording and Concert Star Nellie McKay (Old Hats, The 3 Penny Opera) have been announced as the first wave of guest stars scheduled to perform at the 2014 Nightlife Awards at The Town Hall on Monday, January 27th at 7 PM. Almost every week hereafter, more guest stars will be announced, and soon after the holidays the winners, who will perform to show why they were chosen — will finally be announced to the public. The winners will not make acceptance speeches because the Nightlife Awards is the only All-Performance Award Show.

Nightlife Awards Executive Producer Scott Siegel said, in a statement, “Every year, over the course of the holidays and into January, we accumulate an extraordinary number of major stars to come and perform in support of New York Nightlife. They not only do they perform, they introduce the winners, chosen by the press, and these are the most outstanding jazz, comedy, and cabaret performers in New York City. Hosting this parade of talent, once again, will be three-time Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch (Hairspray, the center square in Hollywood Squares, etc.).

“At a certain point in mid-January,” Siegel continued, “we always hit CRITICAL MASS, that point when we have so many stars, from Broadway, Nashville, Hollywood, and Television, plus our high profile winners, that the cast becomes simply mind-boggling. This will be our 12th Annual Nightlife Awards and the pedigree of this show is in the stars that have performed under its banner: Alan King, Robert Klein, Eartha Kitt, Bill Charlap, Betty Buckley, Raul Esparza, Kristin Chenowith, Rupert Holmes, Stephanie J.Block, Elaine Stritch, Paula West, Billy Stritch, Margaret Whiting, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Lea DeLaria, Demetri Martin, John Pizzareli, Jessica Molaskey, and dozens of others of equal star power.

“I invite New Yorkers now, when seats are still available, to buy seats to the show as Christmas presents that will bring joy when one needs it most — in deep, dark January — specifically on Monday, January 27th at The Town Hall. It will be a gift that will be long remembered.”
