J. Robert Spencer rose to fame when he created the role of Four Seasons bassist,  Nick Massi in the Tony Award- and Grammy Award-winning show Jersey Boys, with additional credits beyond as an independent film director, producer, writer and singer.

He then went on to star in the critically-acclaimed and Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical Next To Normal. His performance earned him a 2008-2009 Helen Hayes Award Nomination, and a 2008-2009 Tony Award Nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

Since 2011, Bobby  has performed in over 1000 concerts all over the world with his fellow Jersey Boys stars in their musical group,  The Midtown Men.  The Midtown Men have produced two concert specials for public television that air nationally.
Bobby wrote and recorded a new song “Waiting on Christmas,” after a discussion with his daughter who prefers the old Christmas classics from greats like Bing Crosby and Johnny Mathis and encouraged him to write a new one in that style. He recorded the new song with a children’s choir from a local school.
