Leslie with the band

Two days after departing his Tony Award Winning performance of Hamilton, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. was out there readying for concerts and promoting his self titled cd Leslie Odom, Jr.

In front of a room full of Hamilton fans and a mob outside the room, he performed two of the songs from the CD – “Autumn Leaves” and “Joey, Joey, Joey” and then signed the CD for those who attended.

I understand that many were there on line outside waiting to get in before the store opened  to buy and and get the precious Wrist Band that would allow them into the room for the performance at 4:30.    When the first set of wristbands were given out, another color band was issued that would allow the fans to stand outside the room and be able to get his autograph.  There were so many people outside waiting, that it might have broken the record. (similar to last year’s Hamilton CD signing)

No rest for the busy performer, as he is scheduled to open tonight at the MicKittrick Hotel for a series of late night concerts to promote his new CD.
Leslie Odom Jr. and Lin-Manuel Miranda were both up for a Tony Award for “Best Musical Performance” – which Odom won. Many of the original performers have left or are leaving the show the show on Saturday or shortly thereafter (Philippa Soo, Renee Elise Goldsberry) as a new group of actors take over. These were all original performers when Hamilton first opened at the Public Theater.
