In celebration of the Pride Weekend, Sirius XM Radio had a special program hosted by Larry Flick about the gay anthems featuring a performance of the upcoming off-broadway musical Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical. In addition to their performance, Billy Porter and Martha Walsh were interviewed on the topic. Quite an appropriate guest list for the theme.
Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical tells the story of 1970s disco icon Sylvester, who is best known for songs such as “(You Make Me Feal) Mighty Real”, “Dance (Disco Heat)” and “You are My Friend.” It stars Anthony Wayne as Fabulous Sylvester, Anastacia McCleskey and Jacqueline B. Arnold as the Weather Girls.
Their musical performance was something to see (and hear in this case). With an amazing high energy, they worked the audience at the radio recording, fully dressed and choreographed, as if they were Fabulous Sylvester and the Weather Girls themselves. Everyone around them showed huge smiles. It was also a very special day, because it was when Martha Wash, who had been Sylvester’s musical collaborator, met the cast of the show for the first time.
After their performance at studio, TheaterPizzazz had the opportunity to chat with the three cast members of the show and co-director, costume designer, celebrity stylist Kendrell Bowman where we found out a little bit about that. Along with having a glamorous life style that many admired Fabulous Sylvester is also a pioneer on being unapologetic and true to who he is. See our video interview.

Previews for MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL begin Off-Broadway at Theatre at St. Clement’s (423 W. 46th Street) on Friday, September 5, 2014. The limited-engagement is scheduled through Sunday, October 5th.
