” Q U E E N   O F   T H E   N I G H T “
TO PREMIERE AT NEWLY REOPENED VENUE
ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

Billy Rose’s legendary supper club, Diamond Horseshoe, will reopen in its original subterranean location beneath midtown’s Paramount Hotel 75 years after it first opened its doors and forever changed New York nightlife.  The famed venue will officially open to the public on New Year’s Eve.  To celebrate its reemergence, Randy Weiner‘s newest genre-crossing, environmental experience, Queen of the Night, begins on December 31, 2013, for six weeks only.

In 1938, Billy Rose opened Diamond Horseshoe at the Paramount Hotel featuring the greatest performers, top vaudeville acts, and the most beautiful showgirls in the world.  The New York Times called Diamond Horseshoe the “gayest frolic on Broadway” and it remained a vibrant, groundbreaking venue until it shuttered in 1951.  It has been vacant ever since.  Until now!

Diamond Horseshoe is a six-thousand square foot ballroom that will serve as not just a prime midtown nightlife destination, but also a venue for environmental theatrical experiences, events, and other unique programming.  The space, currently undergoing a complete renovation, will feature two bars, a brand new kitchen, banquet style tables, and various private rooms.

In the spirit of Billy Rose, nightlife impresario and entertainment provocateur, Paramount Hotel owner and art collector Aby Rosen, in partnership with Variety Worldwide (Murtaza Akbar, Simon Hammerstein, Javier Vivas, & Randy Weiner) and LDV Hospitality (Curt Huegel & John Meadow) will present Queen of the Night, a new immersive environmental experience created by Randy Weiner, Simon Hammerstein and Murtaza Akbar. Tony ® Award winner Christine Jones to direct, with circus creation by Shana Carroll of Les 7 Doigts de la main and food performance created by Jennifer Rubell.  The experience will feature associate direction by Jenny Koons, creative direction by Giovanna Battaglia, set and scent design by Douglas Little, fashion design by Thom Browne, lighting design by Austin R. Smith, sound design by Darron L. West & Charles Coes, magic design bySteve Cuiffo, and interior design by Meg Sharpe, with choreography by Lorin Latarro and casting by Henry Russell Bergstein.  Jason Kallert will be the executive chef. Nathan Koch and Jennie Willink to produce.

Queen of the Night is a dark debutante ball thrown by The Marchesa for her daughter Pamina. Queen of the Night is a fusion of performance, music, circus, cuisine, design, and nightlife that welcomes the audience into a wholly interactive entertainment experience.  Drinks will flow, dinner is served, and over the course of the gala, guests will be engaged, entertained, and immersed in this genre-blurring initiation.

This is from the folks who produce “Sleep No More” an immersive experience.
