Thursday night, March 24 at the Cort Theater saw the gala opening of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s new musical, Bright Star. The opening night red carpet, mobbed by photographers and fans alike, featured A-listers including Howard Stern, Martin Short, Diane Sawyer, Andrea Martin, Bebe Neuwirth, David Hyde Pierce, Steve Buscemi, Paul Shaffer, Aiden Quinn, Joel Grey and countless others.

Bright Star, co-created by Martin and Brickell, is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. It’s a story of love and redemption set in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the American South in the 1920s and 1940s, and features bluegrass music. Following the curtain call there was a special bluegrass performance featuring Steve Martin and the show’s musician’s. Martin also performed at the after party which was held at Gotham Hall in Herald Square. See photos below.
