From Broadway to film, The Prom is now an adaptation by Ryan Murphy shot in a high school gym in Hollywood! And the stars, well, the stars . . . Meryl Streep, James Corden, Kerry Washington. If you missed it on Broadway, it’s the story of a young gal who wants to take her girlfriend to the school dance and the various characters who come to her aid and also broaden their mindsets.
The Prom is filled with bling and glitz as will be the coming, already financed projects including Hamilton, American Utopia, The Boys in the Band, What the Constitution Means to Me, Wild Mountain Thyme, West Side Story, In the Heights, Diana the Musical, Dear Evan Hansen and more.
It was inevitable that once Zoom came to the forefront, given the pandemic, that the better choice for technology would unfold in the form of film. So, sit back and relax and enjoy the ride and some terrific Broadway shows! And maybe some of those original Broadway cast members will find their way into some of these movies . . .
