Alec Baldwin serves as the artistic advisor and host for the New York Philharmonic’s Art of the Score concert series, featuring the movie music of Alfred Hitchcock and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The acclaimed orchestra, conducted by Constantine Kitsopoulos, fills Avery Fisher Hall with the suspenseful sounds of Vertigo, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest and more, as the gripping scenes are projected on a giant screen above the stage. Emmy-winner Sam Waterston (Law & Order) picks up welcoming duties for the Wednesday performance. Then music director-conductor Alan Gilbert mans the baton for a full-length screening of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey, with an exciting live performance of its legendary Ligeti-filled soundtrack from the Phil and the acclaimed Musica Sacra chorus.
