On April 18, 2022 new hopeful Rockettes auditioned at Radio City Music Hall. Approximately 800 dancers auditioned in the hopes of receiving either a coveted spot on the Rockettes line for the 2022 Christmas Spectacular, or an offer to attend the dance company’s invite-only conservatory program. To create a more inclusive line by broadening the number of dancers eligible to become Rockettes, the organization expanded the height requirement by an inch – changing it from 5’6”-5’10½” to 5’5”-5’10½” – beginning with this year’s auditions. Rockettes Conservatory is an invite-only, week-long intensive training program that will be held for select dancers at Radio City Music Hall and will be offered at no cost to participants. It was designed as an investment in promising dancers’ futures, and, in addition to becoming an inclusive talent pipeline for future Rockettes, the conservatory program ensures the dance company continues to evolve by attracting the best dancers from all backgrounds.
