#IdentityWeek wrapped up on Friday evening, September 30 with a special panel discussion, “A Celebration of Pioneering Artists,” featuring Anne Bogart (Co-Artistic Director, SITI Company), Larry Kramer (playwright, The Normal Heart), Dr. Ntozake Shange (playwright, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When the Rainbow Is Enuf), Joi Gresham (Executive Director of the Lorraine Hansberry Estate)  George C. Wolfe (playwright and Director, Shuffle Along…Jelly’s Last JamThe Colored Museum), and moderator: Christian Parker (Chair, Head of Dramaturgy Concentartion,  Columbia University School of the Arts.)  
 
The event, was the culmination of #IdentityWeek, a four-day panel event, September 27 – 30, exploring racial, cultural, sexual, and gender identity in the theatre.  This year’s event was created in response to the issues of identity, inclusion, and representation onstage being at the forefront of our industry’s collective conversation. Through these panels, presenting partners Samuel French, Playbill and HowlRound provided a safe, respectful space where artists, activists, and members of the industry can come together for discussion, debate and more.  All panels were held at the Vineyard Theatre in Union Square, NYC and were  live-streamed by HowlRound. CLICK HERE to vides video of A Celebration of Pioneering Artists” and other #IdentityWeek panel discussions.
