After the success of the recent Van Gogh Immersive, a new experiential experience has opened on Wall Street. Documenting the life and works of Claude Monet, the founder of Impressionism, Monet’s Garden: The Immersive Experience opened on November 1st, with a VIP cocktail party and viewing on November 4th. The exhibit is slated to run through January 8th, 2023. Monet’s Garden is located at 30 Wall Street, between Nassau Street and William Street.

The interactive experience takes visitors on a journey through Monet’s life and art in a variety of ways. The Studio portion of the exhibit gives information about the artist and has replicas of his work that let you be a part of the painting. You are encouraged to photograph yourself in front of the pieces, and a few of them have QR codes that, when scanned, allow you to take a 3-D version of yourself in the painting. Other displays include coloring in lily pads to scan so they appear in the pond, waving your arms in front of paintings to move the colors and light, and other similar manipulations. Visitors are encouraged to take photos and tag them at #monetsgarden.

The second portion of the garden is awash in color as the room is filled with flowers and bridges to replicate the feel of Monet’s famous garden landscapes in Giverny, Normandy. The exhibit starts on the second floor with these two immersive experiences, and then you are led down the escalator to a showroom that is filled with screens on the walls and the floors. This 45-minute experience surrounds the viewers with his artwork transforming the room into fields of haystacks, a gigantic water lily pond, and scenes from his childhood and other famous paintings of his. You do not need to enter at a specific time, as the display repeats itself, and you can leave whenever you like.

To visit Monet’s Garden, you will need to purchase tickets online for a specific time slot, but once you enter, you can stay as long as you wish. Most people spend 60-75 minutes there, longer if they stay for the full 45-minute show experience. While photography is encouraged, flash is not permitted, nor are tripods or monopods.
