Mostly Marlene features Kim David Smith (described as the “David Bowie of Cabaret”) in this “slyly subversive” show coming up at Joe’s Pub, on Sunday February 27 at 9:30pm — Smith is the “male Marlene Dietrich” (so says the New York Times) as he conjures the glitter, doom and decadence of the 1920s Berlin in his intimate celebration of Dietrich’s musical and cultural legacy: Mostly Marlene. Chelsea Table+Stage has announced the return of Randy Edelman on Saturday, February 26 at 9:30 PM. After an acclaimed debut at the venue last fall, the renowned composer, maestro, and pop recording star will once again share the soundtrack of his life in a dazzling and unparalleled concert. Edelman will celebrate the soundscape of his musical career with his sparkling piano work with familiar arrangements of his movie scores from The Last of the Mohicans to My Cousin Vinny. Choreographed by Paul Lazar and Annie-B Parson, CAGE SHUFFLE MARATHON — which sets a bevy of one-minute stories previously recorded by the late John Cage — has been in development since 2017.  This premiere at La MaMa February 15, 17 and 19, is the first time that all 90 of those one-minute tales are performed in toto.  The SHUFFLE of the title refers to the fact that the order of the pieces is random; different at each performance. The dances are performed by Mr. Lazar and guests artists Annie-B Parson, Jesse Barbagallo, Patricia Hoffbauer, Jennifer Krasinsky, Brian Rogers and Sheryl Sutton.  Reservations at www.lamama.org
