THE ART OF LIFE, a new play by Richie Abanes (original cast of Dreamgirls) and directed by Abbey O’Brien (Jagged Little Pill, Waitress, Moulin Rouge!) will have an invitation-only industry reading on Friday, April 5 at Open Jar Studios in Times Square.
The five-person cast features SuEllen Estey (My Fair Lady), Ashley Ganger (Late Bloomer, Grand Army, Swipe Night), Diana Huey (Disney’s The Little Mermaid), Gracie McGraw (If Loving You Is Wrong), and Desi Oakley (Chicago, Waitress, “The Gilded Age”).

The Art of Life spans two years in the lives of five women navigating life in New York. The invitation-only reading of THE ART OF LIFE will take place on Friday, April 5 at Open Jar Studios at 1601 Broadway. OCTOBER 7, a new verbatim play about the terrorist attacks on Israel as told by those who survived them, will make its World Premiere in New York City on May 2nd.  Written by Phelim McAleerOCTOBER 7 tells the story of Israel’s darkest day by using the  compelling and dramatic accounts of those who lived through it. OCTOBER 7 is a 100 percent verbatim play consisting entirely of stories from those who were there. Mason Holdings, a company known for creating intimate, experiential theater inspired by the unseen and unheard, is proud to present the world premiere of Small Acts of Daring Invention, a theatrical exploration of the real and unreal inspired by the life and work of Dare Wright, author of the children’s book series The Lonely Doll. Written and conceived by Mason Holdings Founder and Artistic Director Tracy Weller and created with longtime collaborators director Kristjan Thor and set designers Christopher and Justin SwaderSmall Acts of Daring Invention features puppetry by Simple Mischief Studio. The story follows an unmoored woman, adrift in the isolation and fog of forgetfulness, towards an encounter with her long-lost companions – and life. Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director, Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) is thrilled to announce initial casting for the world premiere of What Became of Us, written by Shayan Lotfi (Off-Broadway debut) and directed by Jennifer Chang (The Far Country at Berkeley Rep).  In alignment with the playwright’s vision, this unique production will have two separate casts: one featuring Rosalind Chao and BD Wong, and another featuring Shohreh Aghdashloo and Tony Shalhoub.
