Once again, Oscar Winner Helen Mirren will assume the role of Queen Elizabeth II – her Royal Highness – in “The Audience,” due at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater on Broadway previewing February 17th with a scheduled opening for March 8th and run thru June 28th 2015.
The Audience is written by Peter Morgan who also wrote The Queen in which Mirren starred in 2006 winning an Academy Award, and for which she won an Olivier Award as Best Actress in a Play in London’s West End in 2013. The Broadway production will be directed by Stephen Daldry.
The premise of the Queen was the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death post 1997. The Audience will take us back to the 1950s thru today with many imagined conversations between Elizabeth II and the 12 Prime Ministers during her reign.
Ms. Mirren can currently be seen in her latest movie “The Hundred Foot Journey.”
