Rhonda Ross, the daughter of Diana Ross and Berry Gordy, appeared at the Iridium this past week. She was a vision in red with a tight fitting dress that accentuated her well toned figure. Miss Ross has a smooth jazzy sound and is backed by six outstanding musicians, Terry Burrus-piano, Dominick Maybank -Bass, Kevin Harrington-Drums,Daoude-Percussion, Duane Eubanks-trumpet, Darryl Yokley-Saxophone. She is backed up by super talented Keesha Gumbs, Sheniqua Trotman and Terelle Tipton. Miss Ross’s voice blended beautifully with Terelle Tipton on their duet.

She sang some of her original songs that had a spiritual element to them. Miss Ross sings with great joy that is infectious. She generously gave each of her musicians solos where they were able to shine. In the limited stage time aloted I would have preferred hearing more of her singing and perhaps reducing some of the bands solos. Having a talented singer like her mother, Rhonda Ross has a hard act to follow but has the talent to shine.
