The beloved Broadway tradition continues as Sardi’s added two new caricatures of Tony Award-nominees Reed Birney and Jayne Houdyshell to its walls on June 2.
Reed Birney and Jayne Houdyshell are Tony 2016 nominees for their performances in The Humans, and were joined by the entire company Cassie Beck, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed, and Sarah Steele, playwright and 2016 Tony Award Nominee Stephen Karam, director and 2016 Tony Award Nominee Joe Mantello on this occasion.
The Humans recently received 6 Tony Award Nominations including Best Play (Stephen Karam), Best Direction of a Play (Joe Mantello), Featured Actress in a Play (Jayne Houdyshell), Featured Actor in a Play (Reed Birney), Best Scenic Design of a Play (David Zinn), and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Justin Townsend). It is also the winner of the 2016 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play, 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Play, 2016 Drama League Award for Best Play, and a 2016 Special Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. Additionally, Jayne Houdyshell is the winner of a 2016 Obie Award for Performance and Stephen Karam won a 2016 Obie Award for Playwriting.
