The ever-popular Scottish Actor Sir Sean Connery – forever known as James Bond, has died at the age of 90, celebrating that birthday in August. He died overnight in his sleep while in the Bahamas.

He was the first to bring this iconic role to film and appeared in 7 of the spy thrillers.

His acting career spanned decades and his many awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes. Sean Connery’s other films included The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock. He won an Oscar in 1988 as best supporting actor in The Untouchables for his role as the Irish Cop.

In 2000 he was knighted by the Queen.
