The holiday month of December is a busy one at 54 Below, as host Charles Busch (doing his own one-man show on New Years) introduced the in-coming performers.
On December 1st, James Snyder (currently appearing as Josh on Broadway with Idina Menzel in “If/Then”) brings “A First New York Holiday Road with Friends” to 54 Below. There are numerous firsts in his own If/Then life: How playing a french poodle led him to working with Amanda Bynes in “She’s the Man” and a messy breakup to a record deal. What about that temper tantrum that put him on Broadway? Share James’ journey from Cry-Baby to City Center Encores’ Fanny to Carousel at Goodspeed, which led him to his current starring role on Broadway.
James and Matt Doyle will be singing songs from bare: a pop opera, and with Elizabeth Stanley, as they re-unite. And Seth Rudetsky will pop in as well to teach him a Chanukkah song. The show, led by his musical director, drummer Damien Bassman and The Second Chance Band will share holiday memories from childhood as he and his wife are making new ones with their first child here in NYC.
Following James, is Frank Wildhorn as “54 Below Celebrates Frank Wildhorn” – December 2 – 6 with timeless stories and the classics from his soaring scores, featuring reunion with original cast members from “Bonnie & Clyde” – Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes, Melissa van der Schyff, Michael Lanning, Mimi Bessette, Louis Hobson on 12/2 and 12/3 and on 12/5 and 12/6 performances will star Adrienne Warren, Leslie Odom Jr, Bandi Burkhardt, Janet Dacal, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Jane Monheit (12/5 only).
