My favorite Chekhov play is coming to the Beaumont this Spring! UNCLE VANYA is the shortest of his plays, told in just four scenes, but never is he more insightful about the human condition. The story revolves around the title character whose mid-life regrets and longing bubble to the surface when his relatives and friends gather at the family farm one hot summer. The wrong people fall in love, desires and resentments erupt, unbreakable ties are broken and everyone is forced to reckon with their unlived lives. Infused with compassion and humor, UNCLE VANYA is Chekhov at his very best with Steve Carell making his Broadway debut with Jayne Houdyshell, Alfred Molina, Alison Pill, Jonathan Hadary, Anika, Noni Rose, William Jackson Harper, Mia Katigbak. Previews April 2- Opens Apr 24. Limited run at Lincoln Center.

Playwright and actor Heidi Schreck (What the Constitution Means to Me) has written a strikingly immediate new translation for us and it is just wonderful. (In addition to her other talents, Heidi is a Russian scholar who lived and taught in Siberia and St. Petersburg.) The production will be led by our friend Lila Neugebauer who has directedThe WolvesKill Floor and After The Blast at LCT, as well as The Waverly Gallery on Broadway and the acclaimed 2023 film, Causeway
