SuperYou is THE FIRST musical to perform a socially distanced concert on June 27 & 28 at Drive-In Theater on PICK UP TRUCKS, one month after Postponed New York City Theatrical Opening

After postponing its theatrical opening in New York City due to the pandemic, the powerhouse women of SuperYou (book, Music & Lyrics by Lourds Lane, Directed and Choreographed by JoAnn Hunter) will be performing a live music concert on Saturday, June 27th, and Sunday June 28th at 8 PM at the Four Brothers drive-in movie theater (recently featured on the Today Show) in Amenia, NY (  “SuperYou Night” is a celebration of the power of our voices and the superhero inside us all.  Patrons who come wearing a cape get free giveaways and prizes. Tickets for the SuperYou live performance will include two movies and a donation to support the SuperYouApprenticeship Program, a Black Lives Matter initiative, which gives paid opportunities for women theater makers of color. With a veteran Broadway cast and an award-winning creative team, SuperYou has transitioned from a theatrical opening in NYC to a socially-distanced concert performance in the back of five pick-up trucks at the drive-in to remind people that theater is still alive.

SuperYou was originally scheduled to open May 27 at the Daryl Roth Theater.

SuperYou has garnered massive buzz and attention prior to its much-anticipated opening last month. The excitement was palpable and electric as this story of an artist learning to love herself when her superheroine creations come to life, has inspired a devoted fan base. It has an anthemic rock score and the mind-blowing talent of the women-driven cast.

The interesting and heartwarming story of the re-imagination of SuperYou is exemplary of the resilience of spirit during the pandemic and a case study in dealing with the grief and resulting innovation that “The Great Pause” has brought on the NYC theater community.
