You don’t have to pay for everything you see and do in New York City.  If you love the arts, theater, music, dance, film, acrobatics in a family-friendly atmosphere, then plan on being at Theater for the New City’s Lower East Side Festival! It’s been 20 years now!  It’s happening May 22-23-24 (155 First Ave. at 10th Street) and it’s FREE!

It’s like the old carnival days with nearly 100 free performances featuring a wide range of artists. Expect to meet up with Oscar winner F. MURRAY ABRAHAM, performance artist PENNY ARCADE, WILLIAM ELECTRIC BLACK, CHERRY PITZ of HOTSY TOTSY BURLESQUE; Tony winner TAMMY GRIMES, INFINITY DANCE THEATER, Broadway performer LUBA MASON, MAQUINA MONO Latin Dance Music, NEGRO ENSEMBLE COMPANY, comic RENO, SUSPENDED CIRQUE aerial artists, THUNDERBIRD AMERICAN INDIAN DANCE COMPANY, YANGTZE RIVER REP, PETER ZACHARIA.

There’ll be artworks on exhibit featuring over three dozen local artists.

FRIDAY, MAY 22 – 6 – 1 A.M.

SATURDAY, MAY 23 – noon to midnight

SUNDAY, MAY 24 – kid stuff 2 – 5 p.m. and much more for adults 4 pm to midnight
