Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, President/CEO, in memoriamScott Ellis, Interim Artistic Director) announces Academy Award and two-time Tony nominee Amy Ryan will assume the role of “Sister Aloysius” in the new Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley’s Tony Award & Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt: A Parable, directed by Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis.  

Ms. Daly was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and unfortunately needs to withdraw from the production while she receives medical care; she is thankfully expected to make a full recovery. Amy Ryan’s first performance in Doubt: A Parable will be Tuesday, February 13. For performances through Sunday, February 11, the role of “Sister Aloysius” will be played by the understudy, Tony Award nominee Isabel Keating (The Boy from Oz)

La MaMa is proud to present the world premiere of Existentialism as part of Talking Band’s 50th Anniversary Season. Created and directed by Anne Bogart in collaboration with Ellen Maddow and Paul Zimet, who perform, Existentialism is an urgent, funny, and poetic work that reunites Talking Band with director Bogart 35 years after their first Obie-winning collaboration. Midnight Theatricals has announced Scarlett Dreamsthe world premiere of a new play written and directed by S. Asher Gelman (Afterglow, safeword). The Broadway premiere of the new musical HELL’S KITCHEN will star Tony Award nominee Shoshana Bean (Wicked, Waitress, Mr. Saturday Night), Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton, Shuffle Along, The Color Purple), Kecia Lewis (Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Drowsy Chaperone, Children of a Lesser God)and Chris Lee (Hamilton) and Maleah Joi Moon both making their Broadway debuts. The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize announced ten finalists for the prestigious playwriting award – the largest and oldest playwriting award recognizing women+ writers for plays of outstanding quality written for the English-speaking theatre. This is the 46th year of the prestigious award. The 2024 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize will announce the winner at a celebration attended by writers, supporters, and artistic leaders in London at the Royal Court Theatre on March 11. The winner will be awarded $25,000 and also receive a signed and numbered print by renowned artist Willem de Kooning, created especially for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. A Special Commendation of $10,000 may be given at the discretion of the judges, and each Finalist will receive $5,000.
