La MaMa’s world premiere of Untitled Theater Company No. 61’s Exagoge, with original music by Avner Finberg, script and libretto by Edward Einhorn, directed by Einhorn. Exagoge runs April 26 – May 12 in a limited engagement at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 East 4th St.) in NYC. Previews begin April 26 (the 5th night of Passover) for an April 29 opening (the 8th night of Passover).  An immersive opera/play/Passover seder, based on the oldest known Jewish play, written in Alexandria in the second century BCE by Ezekiel the Tragedian. The audience gathers round the seder table or watches from the risers, joining the performers for a traditional 15-part modern seder. An opera composer, Zeke, has brought home his girlfriend Aliya, a non-practicing Muslim, for the first time. Folk Productions, Danielle Perelman, Arterial Projects and Executive Producer Jeremy O. Harris announced Maia Novi’s outrageously true dark comedy Invasive Species will invade the stage for an Off-Broadway limited engagement at The Vineyard’s Dimson Theater (108 E 15th St), reuniting the cast and creative team from its 2023 world premiere at The Tank. Invasive Species begins previews on Tuesday, May 7 ahead of a Wednesday, May 15 opening night. This limited 8-week visiting engagement at The Vineyard will play through Sunday, June 30. Roundabout Theatre Company  announces complete casting for the new production of Home by Samm-Art Williams, not seen on Broadway in more than 40 years, directed by Kenny Leon.  Home will feature Tory Kittles as “Cephus Miles,” Brittany Inge as “Woman One / Pattie Mae Wells,” and Stori Ayers as “Woman Two”—all in their Roundabout Theatre Company debuts.

Home will begin preview performances on Friday, May 17, 2024, and open officially on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Todd Haimes Theatre (227 West 42nd Street) on Broadway. This is a limited engagement through Sunday, July 21, 2024. www.roundabouttheatre.org

Jana Robbins, Broadway actress and producer, plays a powerful Jewish mother with memory problems in “A Final Toast” by Michele A Miller.  The play explores the complex misunderstandings, secrets, and tensions in families when daughters must take charge of mothers who are entering dementia.  Ms. Miller is known for plays and screenplays which disarm dark subjects with comedy.  Renaissance Now Theatre & Film, a producer of new works, films and innovative interpretations of classics, will present the play’s world premiere run May 10 to 26 at Chain Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor.  The four-character play also features Jolie Curtsinger, Diane J Findlay and Sachi Parker.  Kathy Curtiss directs.
