Theater for the New City presents Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre in “A Christmas Carol, Oy! Hanukkah, Merry Kwanzaa (75 minutes) Dec. 22 – Dec. 31; a toy-puppet theater extravaganza for all ages that stages Dickens’ classic with Old World accents and New World inclusiveness. Adapted, directed and reinvented by Vit Horejs, it features over 30 puppets by Milos Kasal including a quartet of Rockettes in Slovak, Moravian and Ruthenian folk costumes and holiday songs in Czech, English, Hebrew, Slovak, Spanish and Swahili. New York Theatre Barn will present the premiere of Inside the Incubation: Sueños: Our American Musical on December 15th, 2021 at 7PM. Book/Music/Lyrics by Mexican-American writer Jesse J. Sanchez, diected by Maria Torres. Dedicated to the musicals of tomorrow, the anti-racist, non-profit organization has served as a home for original culture shifting musicals during incubation since 2007. Tiananmen Square – a new play at The Players Theatre and spit and vinegar March 10-27, 2022. An all Asian cast brings to life a deeply moving tale of a young gay couple trying to survive the Tiananmen Square crackdown and how their daughter –  more than a decade later – is attempting to uncover one of her parents’ secret ties to the Chinese military during the massacre. This tragic love story set against the backdrop of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, displays the brutality of this terrible moment in history. The playwright remains anonymous fearing retaliation from the Chinese government.
