Bad Cinderella will play its final performance on June 4. The musical began previews on Feb. 17 and opened at the Imperial Theatre on March 23. At the time of closing, the new musical will have played 33 preview and 85 regular performances.
Broadway legend Chip Zien is set to star in the role of “Rabbi” in the new musical Harmony by Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman. The production will play Broadway’s Barrymore Theatre (243 W 47th St.) with previews starting Wednesday, October 18, ahead of a Monday, November 13 official opening night. Mr. Zien originated the role in the award-winning off-Broadway production at National Yiddish Theatre/Folksbiene last year. With the recent announcement of Lucille Lortel Theatre’s purchase and renovation of a new theater space in Chelsea and its appointment of two new Co-Artistic Directors of New Work, Lucille Lortel Theatre is pleased to announce the launch of: Immigrant Experiences, a new musical theatre development program focused on the works of immigrant playwrights and composers in partnership with The New School’s College of Performing Arts. The 15-week program is led by Jaime Lozano, multi-hyphenate musical theater composer, storyteller, and director and the classes are hosted at The New School.Broadway award-nominated and award-winning guest teachers such as Helen Park, Nathan Tysen, and others have helped mentor and advise participants in the development process. The participants span the globe with representation from China, Mexico, Philippines, Spain, the United States of America. Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Lisa Lawer Post, Interim Executive Director) has announced TOROS by Danny Tejera and directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch will be produced this summer at Second Stage Theater Uptown.
TOROS will begin previews Tuesday, July 18 and will officially open Tuesday, August 1 at the McGinn/Cazale Theater on Broadway at 76th Street. The production will feature Juan Castano, who returns to Second Stage Theater where he appeared in Bruce Norris’ A Parallelogram in 2017.
