Triple Threat-James T. Lane; Pal Joey-NYC Centre & Gala; Folksbienne Summer Soiree; At The iIlusionist’s Table/McKittrrick Hotel

Monday, June 19, the award-winning National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) presents a Summer Soirée, with Adam B. Shapiro Master of Ceremonies – a star-studded event celebrating the students, educators and supporters of NYTF’s new Education Initiative aimed at combatting anti-Semitism through the performing arts.  Attendees will be treated to performances by: Dani Apple, Joanne H. Borts, Aaron Diskin, Brian Glassman, Sophie Knapp, Annette Ezekiel Kogan, Yosef Kogan, Frank London, Avram Mlotek, Jenny Romaine, Rachel Yucht, Avi Fox-Rosen, Ilya Shneyveys, Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch, and Matt Temkin. And the evening will also include a band that includes Zalmen Mlotek, Frank London (of The Klezmatics). In addition, there will be special performances by Julie Benko (Funny Girl) and Danny Kornfeld by Barry Manilow & Bob Sussman’s Harmony (which begins performances October 18 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway.  Triple ThreatJames TLane’s solo autobiographical show which opens off-Broadway at Theatre Row Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) on June 26th. Kenny Ingram directs & choreographs this play written and performed by Lane, Triple Threat recounts the actor’s moving, redemptive journey—from his against-all-odds rise to near death cataclysmic fall and his extraordinary return to the top. Acting, singing, and dancing his way through several pivotal scenes from his life, Lane reveals that is indeed a triple threat, just not always the kind he or anyone else ever envisions. Audiences will follow James as he escapes his traumatic adolescence in the South Philly projects, and through sheer talent and tenacity, becomes a Broadway musical star.

Annual Gala Presentation November 1 Ziegfeld Ballroom Dinner/Dancing: Pal Joey, reconceived by tap icon Savion Glover and director Tony Goldwyn. Joey Evans (Ephraim Sykes of Ain’t Too Proud) is a Black jazz singer refusing to compromise on his craft and struggling to make it big on the Chicago nightclub circuit alongside fellow artists Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls) and Aisha Jackson (Frozen). The McKittrick Hotel (530 West 27th Street, NYC), home of Sleep No More, announceS the return of internationally-acclaimed illusionist Scott Silven’s At The Illusionist’s Table. Performances of the intimate experience, where magic and mentalism intertwine with fine dining, will be offered in the hotel’s Club Car starting July 5, 2023. Following a sold-out run earlier this year in the hotel’s winter rooftop, The Hideout at Gallow GreenAt The Illusioninst’s Table returnsfor a limited engagement this summer.
