Forwood C. Wiser presents Sean Young (Blade RunnerFatal Instinct) in Ode To The Wasp Woman, a new play by Rider McDowell (The Mercy Man, Wimbledon). Ode To The Wasp Woman chronicles the last 48 hours in the lives of four 1950’s B movie stars; Susan Cabot, leading lady of the Roger Corman’s cult classic The Wasp Woman; George Reeves, the man who brought Superman to life on TV screens across America; Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer of the beloved “Our Gang” comedies; B-movie queen Barbara Payton. The desperate and sensational events that lead to the demise of these four fallen stars are told in four one acts with music, a veritable homage to film noir and true crime.

Axis Theatre Company is proud to present Rip Tide, a new play written and performed by Edgar Oliver that takes audiences back to where it all began for the New York City icon. Directed by Axis Theatre Company founder Randall SharpRip Tide runs October 4–28 at Axis Theatre (1 Sheridan Square, Manhattan) with a press opening on Sunday, October 8.

Freestyle Love Supreme’s Aneesa Folds is joining the cast of Cyclops: A Rock Opera in the role of Dionysus, the god of wine, women, and song. Folds joins the previously announced cast, which also includes Eric William Morris (White Girl in Danger, King Kong, Mamma Mia) as Odysseus, and Korie Lee Blossey (Disney’s Aladdin) as the Cyclops Polyphemus. Cyclops: A Rock Opera will begin performances October 20 at The Tank (312 West 36th Street). Cyclops: A Rock Opera is a groundbreaking theatrical production that reimagines a classic myth for modern audiences.  Drawing inspiration from Euripides’ 2500-year-old Greek Satyr play, the 90 minute musical features an original rock score by Jason Landon Marcus and Benjamin Sherman, with lyrics by Marcus and a book by Chas LiBretto. The musical, which was Pulitzer-nominated, will also include The Satyrs, a live band of shirtless, half-man, half-goat musicians, leading the festivities. Sherri Eden Barber (Resident Director for Hamilton on Tour) will direct. After a wildly successful run in Philadelphia, Cooper Jordan Entertainment will bring SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw Off–Broadway this fall. Created by Cooper Jordan (DEX! A Killer Musical, The Rat Pack Undead), SAW The Musical has a book by Award -Winning Writer Zoe Ann Jordan (Virtuoso – NYCHFF) and music & lyrics by Patrick Spencer & Anthony De Angelis (An Axemas Story), and directed by Tony Award Winner Stephanie Rosenberg (Easter Bunny HOP! LIVE; Co-Producer: Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Anastasia) with music direction by Leigh Pomeranz (DEX! A Killer Musical). Heather Massie will perform her solo play, “HEDY! The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr,” at Morningside Players Theater Company, 100 La Salle Street, Manhattan, for general audiences October 25 to 29. Legendary comedy institution The Second City announced the opening date, slate of shows, and cast for its brand-new New York City location, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The nearly 12,000 square-foot entertainment complex at 64 N. 9th Street comprises two cabaret-style live theaters, seven Training Center classrooms, and a full-service restaurant and bar. The Second City New York will open to the public on November 16, 2023.

La Femme Theatre Productions  renowned for its dedication to showcasing the diverse female experience, is set to illuminate the Off-Broadway stage this season with an evocative 21st century production of Tennessee Williams’s timeless masterpiece,  The Night of the Iguana.  Under the direction of Tony Award nominee,  Emily Mann , this production will star Emmy Nominee  Tim Daly, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Lea DeLariaAustin and  Jean Lichty.
