Originally scheduled to open for live performance at London’s Southwark Playhouse, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice will now stream, pay-per-view January 26 thru February 14. Streaming February 13 thru 27 is Drew Larimore’s new play Smithtown, directed by Stephen Kitsakos starring Michael Urie, Ann Harada, Colby Lewis and Constance Shulman. The play follows four residents in a Midwestern university town who become technology’s latest victims as it goes awry. It’s a 65 minute play presented by Studios of Key West. Tickets HERE.

Lincoln Center’s LCT Spotlight Series returns January 14 at 8 pm with Turning the Page featuring LCT artists reading their own poetry and prose. Featured arfe playwrights David Adjimi, Ayad Akhtar, Sarah Ruhl; directors James Lapine and Jack O’Brien and actor/writer Andrew Rannells. The hit musical The Prom comes to the Netherlands. The Prom received six Tony noms on Broadway and became a Netflix movie starring Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, James Corden and Kerry Washington. Production house De Graaf and Cornelissen Entertainment will bring the performance to the Dutch theaters in the autumn of 2022. This gives the Netherlands a first: it is the first country outside the US where the musical will be shown.

In the film department, Paramount acquired Monty Python Musical Spamalot to be directed by Casey Nicholaw (original Choreographer of the Broadway production), the screenplay by Eric Idle and songs by idle and John DuPrez.

Broadway’s Danny Burstein (Moulin Rouge!) writes an emotional article for Hollywood Reporter about his beloved wife, lovely Broadway soprano Rebecca Luker, noting the “empty, dark abyss” in which he’s left. Rebecca passed away in December from complications due to ALS. Read it HERE.
