Vineyard Theatre announces the cast and design team for the World Premiere of This Land Was Made, written by Tori Sampson (New York Times Critic’s Pick If Pretty Hurts, Ugly Must Be A Muhfucka) and directed by LPTW Lucille Lortel Award and 2023 Obie Award winner Taylor Reynolds (Tambo & Bones). Previews begin on May 18 at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street). Opening night for This Land Was Made, the third and final production of Vineyard’s 40th season, is set for June 4. Tony Award winner John Rubinstein (PippinChildren of a Lesser God) will star as President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, a new American play by Richard Hellesen and directed by Peter Ellenstein. Following acclaimed Los Angeles engagements, The New Los Angeles Repertory Company (Peter Ellenstein, Producing Artistic Director) will present the seven-week Off-Broadway engagement, June 13 through July 30, at Theatre at St. Clements (423 W. 46th Street, NYC). New York Stage and Film, considered “one of the preeminent incubators for theater in the country,” returns to Marist College July 14-August 6 for their 2023 Summer Season.  For 38 years, NYSAF has operated as a vital incubator for artists and their work, a catalyst for stories that continue across the country and around the world.  Tickets go on sale on Monday, May 1.

The 2023 Summer Season at Marist will include a kick off concert on July 14 with “Joe Iconis & Family” along with a new play workshop written and performed by Laurence Fishburne; a new musical workshop of A Wrinkle in Time; the launch of a new initiative to develop dance-driven musicals with Paradise Ballroom, created by Princess Lockerooo and Harold O’Neal; and play readings by Sopan Deb, Beth Henley, Emily Kaczmarek, and Jason Kim.
