The “Spotlight on Plays” series continues with David Mamet’s RACE onThursday, October 29 at 8PM EST/ 5PM PST.  The cast stars Ed O’Neill, 2020 Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier recreating his Tony-nominated performance, Alicia Stith, and Richard Thomas also recreating his role from the 2009 Broadway production.  Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad directs.

 David Mamet’s provocative play RACE concerns three lawyers defending a wealthy white executive charged with raping a black woman. The “Spotlight on Plays” events are livestreamedat 8PM EST/5PM PST.  RACE will be available until Monday, November 2.  Tickets for all events are on sale now and sold exclusively on TodayTix. Ticket buyers can access the events through the TodayTix app or todaytix.com at a “Pay What You Can” rate starting at $5.  Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Actor’s Fund.

Across the Pond – Dear Evan Hansen took home three Oliviers, … including best new musical for its production at the Noël Coward Theater and best actor in a musical for Sam Tutt – – & Juliet … also won three awards, as did Emiliaat the Vaudeville Theater. Leopoldstadt,Tom Stoppard’s play … won for best new play.

Ben Daniels will star in The Normal Heart at London’s National Theatre in 2021 beginning in February 2021 as part of the Olivier in-the-round season. Dominic Cooke will direct.

Readings: Jordan Bridges, Jenn ambatese and Tobias Segal will star in a Veteran’s Day benefit reading of Howard Emanuel’s Sundogs, directed by Heather Arnson. Sundogs will premiere on November 8 at 7:30 PM EST, with a video-on-demand link available for purchase November 9-11. Proceeds will go to Stop Soldier Suicide and The WDA, a not-for-profit theater company that will be developing outreach to the veteran’s community.

City Sidewalks Are the Stage for Off-Broadway Performances Popping Up – A program the city is running called Off Broadway in the Boros is bringing performances throughout the city and keeping crowds small by not announcing where they might pop-up next. Check your borough’s events.

In Memorium: Edith O’Hara, who started the 13th Street Repertory Company in Greenwich Village in 1972, died on Oct. 16 at the age of 103, at her home, the apartment above the theatre. The theatre was a place for Off-Off Broadway where edgy and unusual productions were the norm and Ms. O’Hara diligently made sure it continued for many decades. Her daughter is Tony Award winner Jill O’Hara.
