Lisa Dawn Miller (lisadawnmiller.com) who manages the legacy song catalogue of her father, legendary songwriter, Ron Miller (1932-2007) (ronmillersongbook.com) announces a new show, “For Once in My Life™ – The Songs of Ron Miller” (foronceinmylife.com). Presented by 54 Below, Broadway’s Supper Club, (54below.org), the show is co-produced by director, Robert W. Schneider (robertwschneider.com) and premieres October 8, 2023.
Just in time for Halloween, NYU Skirball has commissioned Nosferatu, A 3D Symphony of Horrorfrom the acclaimed Theater in Quarantine, featuring Joshua William Gelb, to be live streamed throughout Halloween weekend, October 27 – 31. Nosferatu is the company’s newest experiment in digital performance, reaching back to the classic 3D technology of cardboard glasses and old midnight movies. This reimagining of the 1922 vampire classic will be live streamed in live 3D from the Theater in Quarantine closet directly to audience’s phones or devices.
This NYU Skirball commission is created in collaboration with puppet artist and theater maker Nick Lehane and designer Normandy Sherwood. Theater in Quarantine is an Obie and Drama League Award-winning performance laboratory dedicated to the exploration of the live theatrical experience in the digital space. Broadway cast member Eva Noblezada will play her final performance as ‘Eurydice’ in Hadestown, Broadway’s Tony Award®-winning Best Musical, on Sunday, August 13. Noblezada began playing ‘Eurydice’ in 2018 at London’s National Theatre before transferring with the production to Broadway in 2019. The Wall Street Journal heralded Noblezada as “impossible to resist” while Entertainment Weekly called her performance “stellar.” She went on to receive a Tony nomination for her performance in the celebrated musical, as well as a Grammy Award®. Written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown is currently playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W 48th Street).
Following a world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, producers behind “A Transparent Musical” have announced their intention to bring the production to Broadway in 2024. Amazon Studios produced the Los Angeles engagement in partnership with Center Theatre Group and Tony Award-winning producer Eva Price. … The musical features a book by MJ Kaufman and Joey Soloway with music and lyrics by Faith Soloway.
