Based on the true story of young people bravely standing up to injustice, White Rose: The Musical has a book & lyrics by Brian Belding, music by Natalie Brice, direction by Will Nunziata, music direction and arrangements by Sheela Ramesh, and movement direction by Jordan Ryder. The design team includes James Noone (set), Sophia Choi (costumes), Alan C. Edwards (lighting), Elisabeth Weidner (sound), Liz Printz (wig design) and Charlie Rosen (orchestrations). The show has its Off-Broadway debut with a limited 12-week run beginning January 17. The new musical will open on January 25, 2024, at Theatre Row’s Theatre Three (410 West 42nd Street). 

The cast features Pasquale Crociata, Cal Mitchell, Aaron Ramey, Jo Ellen Pellman, Mike Celafo, Kennedy Kanagawa, Laura Sky Herman, Paolo Montalban, Sam Gravitte, Cole Thompson, Ellis Gage, Dani Apple. White Rose: The Musical is a powerful new musical that follows the inspiring story of a courageous group of university students who stood up to Hitler.


The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the world premiere of THE ALLY written by Tony Award-winning playwright Itamar Moses (The Band’s Visit) and directed by Drama Desk winner Lila Neugebauer (Appropriate). Moses returns to The Public after writing the book for The Fortress of Solitude (2014), and Neugebauer makes her Public Theater debut with THE ALLY. Previews begin in the Anspacher Theater with a Joseph Papp Free Performance on Thursday, February 15 and performances continue through Sunday, March 10. The production officially opens on Tuesday, February 27.

Pan Asian Repertory’s Warrior Sisters Starring Dinh James Doan, David Lee Huynh, Vin Kridakorn, Michael C. Liu, Nancy Ma, Kim Wuan runs February 7 – March 10, 2024 at the A.R.T./NY Mezzanine Theatre, 502 West 53rd St, 2nd Fl.  Romance of the Three Kingdoms meets Pride and Prejudice in this scintillating ensemble tale of two Han Dynasty swordswomen battling tradition to gain love, respect, and self-determination.


The Effect, by Succession’s Lucy Prebble, Comes to The Shed. The Effect, a play by Succession co-executive producer and writer Lucy Prebble, will play a limited engagement at The Shed’s Griffin Theatre at Hudson Yards. The production, directed by A Doll’s House and Betrayal director Jamie Lloyd, will run from March 3, 2024 through March 31.

Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, will present its 49th annual Thunderbird American Dancers Pow Wow and Dance Concert from January 12 to 21, 2023. Broadway Briefing has named David Stone the 2023 Broadway Showperson of the Year. Broadway Showperson of the Year is awarded to “the person or persons who most influenced Broadway this year.” 
2023 is the year that David Stone won Tony Awards for his productions of both Topdog/Underdog, named Best Revival of a Play, and Kimberly Akimbo, taking home the trophy for Best Musical. It is also the year that his musical Wicked celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Gershwin Theatre, and became the fourth longest-running Broadway  show in history.
