Wilford Brimley died over the weekend. He was 85 years old.  You might remember him best from films that included “Cocoon,” “The Natural,” and “The Firm.” He’s also memorable as that guy in the Quaker Oats commercial and seen more recently in commercials about diabetes.

Brimley was a lover of jazz and recorded several albums.

He had his very own style as a character actor; one that included a kind of grumpy overtone but lovable. He grew up in Utah.

He died in a Utah hospital, had several medical ailments and was on dialysis.
