MEET THE PERFORMERS AND CREATIVES
Richard Jay-Alexander most recently directed For The Girls on Broadway, starring Kristin Chenoweth. As an actor/singer/dancer, he made his Broadway debut in Luis Valdez’ play Zoot Suit at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1979, was in the original Broadway cast of Amadeus alongside Ian McKellen and Tim Curry, worked on Song & Dance with Bernadette Peters and the revival of Oliver! starring Ron Moody and Patti LuPone. Richard is widely known for his 12 years working with Cameron Mackintosh as Executive Director of his North American company staging 11 productions of Les Miserables, executive produced Les Miz, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Five Guys Named Moe and Sondheim’s Putting It Together. In the recording industry he’s worked with the greatest artists in the world: Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Mandy Gonzalez, Ricky Martin, Lea Salonga, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Russell Watson, Il Divo, Il Volo, Betty Buckley, The Broadway Kids (where he met Ned Ginsburg), Chris Botti, Lea Michele, Norm Lewis, Chris Mann, Johnny Mathis, Melissa Errico, Well-Strung, Desmond Child, Donny & Marie, Jennifer Leigh Warren, Bernadette Peters, Deborah Voigt, Deborah Cox , Sam Harris and the late Polly Bergen. Chuck Cooper won the Tony award for his performance in Cy Coleman’s The Life. He has been featured in 16 Broadway shows in every theatrical genre from Shakespeare to musical comedy. International Award Winning Singer N’Kenge, was called “Electrifying” by the NY Post in the role of Mary Wells that she originated in Broadway’s Smash Hit Motown: The Musical. Courtney Reed was last seen in Lauren Yee’s award winning play Cambodian Rock Band at The Signature Theatre. She originated the role of ‘Princess Jasmine’ in Disney’s smash Broadway hit Aladdin, directed by Casey Nicholaw. She had the honor of being a part of the closing cast of the Tony Award Winning Musical In The Heights, in which she played ‘Carla,’ u/s ‘Nina’ and ‘Vanessa.’ She made her Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! A prominent stage star in his native Australia, Tony Sheldon has won great acclaim across the globe playing Bernadette in the stage adaptation of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. He starred as Woody Mahoney in the recently acclaimed production of Finians Rainbow at Irish Rep Theater. Paulo Szot won the Tony as Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his Broadway-debut turn as Emile de Becque in the 2008 Tony-winning revival of South Pacific. That performance also netted him Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards. Szot’s opera credits include performances at the Metropolitan Opera, Scala di Milano, Paris Opera, Teatro Real, Carnegie Hall, The New York Philharmonic, New York Pops, Barbican and SouthBank Center.

Vereen gained prominence for his performances in the original Broadway productions of the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar, for which he received a Tony Award nomination, and Pippin, for which he won the 1973 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Michael Yeshion (Videographer) is a big believer that, indeed, the theatre will survive and is honored to help create this special video project to support The Actors Fund. Michael is an international multimedia artist, specializing in all things photography, design, and performance. Recent performing credits include Off-Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Ford’s Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Baltimore Centerstage, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Forestburgh Playhouse, Resident Theatre Company and abroad at the Resorts World Genting Resort in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
