The New Writers at 54! (Below) presents Andy Roninson (composer-lyricist, orchestrator, screenwriter in NYC) on February 17 at 9:45 pm. Andy is a Jonathan Larson Award winner making his solo debut with new music and classics from his internationally successful podcast TAKE A TEN (original 10 minute musicals).
His characters are from 70s Soviet Russia and reach to the depths of outer space – his songs eclectic, sweet and funny with a hopeful look at what it means to be alive. Along with Andy are some of Broadway’s top voices including Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly!, Big Fish), C.K. Edwards (Shuffle Along, After Midnight), Debbie Gravitte (Jerome Robbins Broadway, Chicago), Samantha Hahn (Nat’l Yiddish Theatre’s Fiddler on the Roof), Lindsey M.E. Newton (71st Tony Awards), Thom Sesma (The Lion King, Man of La Mancha) and Carla Woods (Sister Act – Nat’l Tour).
Directed by Alexa Smith, the evening also includes an ensemble of top selected students from the Manhattan School of Music.
