One of the treasures of American musical theater, The Music Man, has had audiences looking forward to its return here on Broadway for sometime. Originally scheduled to begin rehearsals June 29, with Covid-19 still looming, the pushback now finds the favorite starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster looking at a first preview April 7 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with rehearsals beginning February 8 with a May 20,2021 opening date.

Producers Scott Rudin, Barry Diller and David Geffen, needless to say, are disappointed but safety first! The production is directed by Jerry Zaks, with Warren Carlyle’s choreographic skills.  Also starring are Jayne Houdyshell, Jefferson Mays, Shuyler Hensley and Marie Mullen.

The 1957 Broadway debut garnered five Tony Awards and played 1375 performances.
